How can we deepen the thinking and reasoning of students as we incorporate the new standards? One way is to increase student discourse opportunities so our students can improve their ability to communicate and deepen their thinking and reasoning. In this session, we will learn about using productive talk moves with purpose: to help your students clarify and deepen their own thinking and to orient and engage with the reasoning of others. We will also talk about essential strategies that you can incorporate daily with whole group, small group, and partner talk.
