This session will equip mathematics teachers for a multitude of effective strategies to solve practical division problems. Strategies that will be covered will include, but not be limited to, interpreting division problems and solve using double-number lines, strip diagrams, incorporating manipulatives (both traditionally found in the classroom, as well as unconventional manipulatives), and using annotated equations and tables. Teachers will be shown strategies on how to explore multiple problem-solving approaches, encourage students to justify solutions in more than one way, and promote abstract thinking.
